An Early 19th Century Grand Tour Wax Coin Impression Of An Ancient Ptolematic Kings Of Egypt Tetradrachm Of Ptolemy IV, A Commemorative Issue Struck By Ptolemy V, c.205-180 B.C.
6.7cm wide overall.
Obverse: Bust of Ptolemy IV. Reverse: Eagle standing on thunderbolt.
The wax Impression laid to resin within its original card slip, numbered in ink “7”.
There is some minor wear to the card as expected with age, a crack through the centre of the wax and resin. An attractive and very decorative piece. Medhurst original images shown below.
