MyI Comments and Tips
The Beasley Archive’s Gems Database
is an apparent large database of glyptic images that can be accessed by various categories, however, using it’s search function has resulted in unpredictable degrees of success. It’s worth a try.
Due to the cross-referencing and other search duplications, the total number of pieces or sources of information in the database was not able to be determined. It does seem to include some, if not all items contained in the other 9 monographs, such as the James Tassie/Raspe, William Tassie, and Paoletti Impressions.
The Database has four search categories:
- Description
- Signature
- Collection / Publication
- Material
Most of the entries have one or more images of the piece with various identifying and historical information. As in most of these monographs, further use and study would be needed to fully understand the references and identification methodology. MyI has just scraped the surface.
